Our client is seeking a VAT Specialist to join their global finance team, supporting the company's aggressive growth plans. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation and timely filing of indirect tax returns in the UK and EU, advising on correct VAT treatment for transactions, and supporting the head of tax and external advisers with direct tax compliance.
What you'll do:
As a VAT Specialist, you will play an integral role within our client's global finance function. Your primary responsibility will be preparing and filing indirect tax returns in the UK and EU. You will also advise on correct VAT treatment for transactions and support the head of tax and external advisers with direct tax compliance. Additionally, you will assist with transfer pricing information provision and gather information during external tax audits.
- Preparation of VAT returns, EC Sales lists, EC Purchase Lists and Intrastat returns across EMEA
- Perform proper reconciliation of VAT Returns to ERP GL Codes and manage follow up actions required with AP and AR
- Ensure all VAT filings (including payments) are completed timely, maintaining a compliance calendar
- Perform quarterly QIPS calculations for UK
- Assist with annual tax reporting process for the Group's statutory accounts working with external advisers as needed
- Assist with transfer pricing information provision
- Assist with gathering information during external tax audits
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for this VAT Specialist role brings a minimum of 2 years' experience in VAT compliance, preferably gained within large multi-nationals or major accounting firms. You possess technical knowledge of UK and EU tax legislation, along with strong Excel skills. Experience with SAGE would be beneficial. Your organisational skills are exceptional, allowing you to manage your workload effectively while meeting strict deadlines. A keen eye for detail and a proactive approach are essential.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in VAT compliance, preferably in large multi-nationals or in major accounting firms
- Technical knowledge of UK and EU tax legislation, and compliance requirements
- Excellent knowledge of Excel
- Experience of SAGE would be helpful
- Highly organised with the ability to manage workload and deadlines effectively
- Attention to detail and proactive approach
