Robertson Bell are excited to announce their partnership with this iconic local authority as they go to market for a Trainee Tax Accountant on a full-time, permanent basis. In this newly created role, you will benefit from a plethora of development opportunities and an opportunity to specialise in all things tax!

In this Trainee Tax Accountant role, you will:

  • Take responsibility for drafting VAT returns on a quarterly basis, following a complex and bespoke method which improves recoverability
  • Gain exposure to land tax by advising capital project leaders and keeping up with requirements and policies
  • Assist in the processing of CIS tax, ensuring this is processed in a timely manner and in accordance with relevant legislation
  • Provide vital assistance into the year-end process, ensuring all monthly accounts are correct and produced in a timely manner
  • Be a key point of contact for all VAT and tax related matters for internal stakeholders, HMRC and third parties

Based in Central London, the successful candidate will benefit from a hybrid working pattern, requiring you to go into the office just twice a week, in addition to a generous pension, competitive annual leave allowance and development opportunities.

The successful candidate will:

  • Understand the theory and practical application behind processing a VAT return and be looking to specialise in a tax related role
  • Hold an AAT Level 3 or ATT Qualification
  • Have worked in a medium or large sized organisation and be eager to join the public sector
  • Be an effective verbal and written communicator with excellent rapport and relationship building skills
