Job Advertisement: VAT Accountant (Full-Time, Fixed Term - 1 Year)

We are looking for an experienced VAT Accountant to join our finance team in London on a full-time, fixed-term basis for one year, with an immediate start.

About the Role:

As a key member of our finance team, you will work closely with the Bursar and Chief Accountant to manage the school's VAT obligations and support various financial activities. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and submitting accurate VAT returns to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).
  • Managing VAT payments and reclaim processes.
  • Providing specialist VAT advice and ensuring team knowledge is up-to-date.
  • Contributing to budgeting, statutory accounts, financial regulation, and other finance-related tasks.
Key Requirements:
  • Part-qualified or qualified by experience, with a strong focus on VAT.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within an educational environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and accounting software.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
