Pentagon Talent have partnered with a global industry-leading law firm is seeking a detail-oriented Working Capital Controller to join their finance team in London. This role involves working closely with partners and internal teams to optimise the working capital cycle, driving efficiency and accuracy in the firm's billing and cash collection processes.
Role OverviewThe Working Capital Controller will collaborate with partners to ensure accurate, timely billing and compliance with client agreements, Solicitors Accounts Rules, and VAT regulations. The role includes managing work-in-progress (WIP) and accounts receivable assets while providing essential financial data to support decision-making. The successful candidate will take responsibility for a dedicated group of partners, overseeing the entire working capital cycle to enhance cash flow and maximise profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Partnering: Support partners with profitability forecasts, pricing scenarios, and budgeting for individual matters.
- Investment Management: Monitor and improve client billing and collection processes, track WIP and debt, and escalate issues as necessary.
- Project Management: Analyze complex billing and profitability data, produce reports, and assist in preparing client reviews.
- Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with partners, the central pricing team, and client relationship teams to facilitate effective operations and client communications.
- Billing Oversight: Prepare, process, and verify bills and e-bills to ensure accuracy and compliance, working closely with the firm's service centres to maintain efficiency.
Ideal CandidateThe role requires a proactive, detail-focused individual with strong communication, organisational, and analytical skills. The ideal candidate will have experience in legal finance functions, ideally within working capital, and a solid understanding of compliance, VAT, and regulatory requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with legal practice management systems would be advantageous.
