Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant with a strong understanding of Accounts Payable & Receivable to join our clients finance team. This role will focus primarily on managing accounts payable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, and maintaining positive relationships with suppliers. The position also involves occasionally assisting with credit control responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities for the Accounts Assistant:
- Process and verify invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Prepare payments through various methods, including electronic transfers and cheques.
- Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies by liaising with suppliers and internal teams.
- Manage the AP ledger, maintaining accurate and organized records of payments.
- Perform month-end closing activities, including AP reconciliations and journal entries.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant accounting regulations.
- Assist in monitoring customer accounts to ensure timely collection of outstanding receivables.
- Assist with arranging payment of overdue invoices.
Qualifications for the Accounts Assistant:
- Proven experience in accounts payable or credit control or a similar financial role.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks) and MS Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills for handling supplier and client queries.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and manage priorities effectively.
Preferred Qualifications for the Accounts Assistant:
- Familiarity with ERP systems and automated payment solutions.
- Professional certification in accounting or finance (AAT) is a plus.
