Responsibilities:
As an Assistant Accountant, your role will be crucial in maintaining current accounting records for all group companies. You'll be responsible for ensuring precise data entry and reconciliation of transactions, processing bank payments, transfers, and bank reconciliations. Your role will also involve raising invoices and managing client payments while processing supplier invoices and managing payment schedules. You'll maintain supplier and client ledgers, ensuring accuracy and timely reconciliation. Additionally, you'll support the asset management team with monitoring project and capital expenditure budgets.
- Oversee daily bookkeeping, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions across all group entities.
- Guarantee accurate financial records and manage supplier and client transactions.
- Support internal financial reporting processes.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management reports.
- Support VAT returns, CIS returns, and other tax-related filings.
- Communicate with auditors and tax advisors as needed.
- Monitor project and capital expenditure (CapEx) budgets.
- Assist with compliance and regulatory matters.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal Assistant Accountant candidate will bring a wealth of bookkeeping or accounting experience to the role, preferably within the real estate or professional services sectors. You may be AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA/CIMA qualifications. Your familiarity with accounting software such as Sage or Xero will be beneficial in this role. Your strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools will aid you in your daily tasks. Your organisational skills, attention to detail, numerical acumen, analytical abilities, and excellent communication skills will set you apart.
- AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA/CIMA (desirable but not essential).
- 1-3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in real estate or professional services.
- Familiarity with accounting software (Sage, Xero, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills (both written and verbal).
