Assistant Accountant - Fast-Paced Industry

Are you an ambitious Assistant Accountant looking to take the next step in your career? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and growing company within a fast-paced industry. You will play a key role in supporting the finance function, working closely with the Management Accountant and wider finance team.

The Role

As an Assistant Accountant, you will be responsible for providing financial support across various functions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting, and assisting with process improvements. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Management Accountant with input into the Rewards Transformation Project, helping implement new systems and processes.
  • Attending weekly meetings with Customer Services to provide updates on funding statuses for various promotions.
  • Supporting the Finance team during the annual financial audit, including preparing schedules and addressing audit queries.
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
  • Reconciling bank accounts, supplier statements, and intercompany balances to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Preparing and maintaining financial reports, ensuring compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.
  • Processing invoices, expenses, and payment runs, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
  • Assisting in the budgeting and forecasting process, providing financial insights and variance analysis.
  • Supporting the finance team with ad hoc financial projects and analysis as required.
The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of financial processes, including reconciliations, reporting, and audits.
  • Experience working with financial systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Actively studying towards or already holding a finance qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
