Assistant Accountant

1 day London office based (Thursdays)

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant who will come with charity experience and knowledge of SORP. As Assistant Accountant you will ideally be part-qualified (ACCA / CIMA) and play an integral role in the Finance team and to support the work of the Finance Manager and Director of Finance to ensure that all statutory and regulatory financial accounting requirements are met in a complete and timely manner.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist with the annual audit accounts within the required deadlines
  • Assist the preparation of annual budgets and revised forecasts
  • Assist with the month end process & the preparation of the monthly management accounts
  • Preparation of weekly Foreign payment bank transfers and deal with Foreign payment queries in a timely manner, along with weekly and monthly Cash Flow forecasts and review the daily cash position; and monthly reconciliation
  • Undertake ad hoc investigations into and analysis of accounts

Skills and experience required:

  • Part Qualified Accountant ( ACCA, CIMA)
  • Knowledge of the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP)
  • Excellent alphanumeric skills and ability
  • Highly competed in general computer programmes such as Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.
  • Good knowledge of accounting software and information systems
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills, able to prioritise daily tasks and manage deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent team player, able to operate collaboratively with others and to manage workload
  • according to wider departmental priorities.
  • Demonstrates ability to quickly build trusted relationships, both internally and externally.
