We are partnering with a leading global health institute affiliated with top universities, driving impactful research and innovation in healthcare across over 60 countries to recruit a proactive and ambitious Assistant Accountant.
Their work includes developing treatments for major diseases, advancing public health initiatives, and leveraging technology for better healthcare access, particularly in communities with more barriers.
The role will assume ownership for financial operations across multiple entities, not for profit and commercial. You will manage transactional processing ensuring integrity and compliance. Responsibility for timely month end close and P&L reporting. The role will involve strong business partnering with UK and global offices and transition to oversight of external processing operations as the role evolves and systems are on-boarded.
Key responsibilities include:
- Financial Operations: Overseeing AP, AR, reconciliations, cost allocation, and payment processing, PO management, transaction processing/ oversight, business partnering on budgeting/ spend management
- Month-End Close: Month end journals, P&L, GL reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Systems & Controls: Supporting the implementation of new finance systems and process improvements. (Business Central and SAP Concur)
- General: Assisting with payroll, VAT returns, year-end accounts and audits, monthly variance analysis
- Deputising for Finance Manager as required
Skills & Experience
- Minimum Part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with relevant finance experience
- Proficiency in accounting software and Intermediate/Advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptable team player with the ability to work independently.
- Experience with grants, funding, intercompany and multi-currency, charity VAT , and financial controls is highly advantageous
- A self-starter, agile thinker thriving on change in an exceptionally fast-paced, evolving environment, self-reliant and exercise high level of initiative.
