Accounts Payable Executive

Annual Salary: £30,000 - £33,000

Location: Leyton

Job Type: Full Time - Monday - Friday / 9am - 5:30pm

We are seeking an Accounts Payable Executive to join our clients well-established and growing finance team. This role is crucial in supporting the Finance Department by performing various financial and administrative tasks. It's an excellent opportunity for someone early in their finance career to develop skills in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organised, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced setting. Experience in an FMCG environment is beneficial but not mandatory.

Day-to-day Responsibilities:
  • Process and reconcile purchase invoices and bookkeeping.
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are made timely.
  • Assist with queries and resolutions of aged balance accounts.
  • Collaborate on reporting aged debtors & creditors.
  • Assist with record keeping of cost centres.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Enter financial data into accounting software accurately.
  • Maintain organised and updated financial records.
  • Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, timesheets, and PO validations.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Finance Department.
  • Cover for other finance team members as required.
  • Assist with filing, scanning, and document management.
  • Conduct regular internal audits: pricing, stock, and accounting entries.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  • Liaise with vendors, customers, and other departments to resolve financial issues.
  • Provide support and information to team members and management as needed.
  • Maintain alignment with the Finance team's agenda.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of experience in accounts payable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent (AAT, ACA, CIMA student).
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., IQ by Intact, SAP).
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Working knowledge of Office 365 (Power BI is advantageous).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
