Medium sized Central/West London based Accountancy Practice is looking for a Senior Bookkeeper to assist a broad range of its clients in the production of financial reports and to assist business owners/directors to efficiently managing their company finances.

This is a great opportunity that will see your work varied and interesting, whilst working across a great range of SME clients. To be a suitable candidate it is essential that you have previous, relevant experience gained within an Accountancy Practice and are used to managing your own portfolio of clients.

You will be an excellent communicator and have recently worked in a similar role in a UK-based practice. You need to be comfortable with using a range of accounting software packages including Sage, Quickbooks and Xero

The role will mainly be office based in the recently refurbished Central/West London Offices and their will also be a requirement for you to go onsite to clients in the near vicinity. Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Advising a diverse portfolio of clients
  • Ensuring that the accounting records of the client are maintained accurately
  • Assist with producing financial statements and reports in a timely fashion for both companies and unincorporated businesses.
  • Preparation of VAT and tax returns
  • Provide full bookkeeping services to your clients to include managing and reconciling ledgers and preparing accounts to trial balance
  • Process month-end and year-end closing procedures
  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions including expenses
  • Preparation of periodic management accounts
  • Preparing and including monthly trial balances, cash flow statements, and other specific client reporting requirements.

Candidate specifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years accounts preparation experience gained within a UK based accountancy practice
  • Proven financial system exposure with the ability to use a multitude of systems including Xero, Quickbooks & Sage Line 50
  • AATQB qualifications are highly desirable
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in taking accounts to trial balance
  • Great team player, who enjoys a collaborative environment
  • Excellent attention to detail, deadline orientated and able work with multiple clients
  • Customer focused and able to build good working relationships, becoming their trusted advisor.
  • Good knowledge of the principles and workings of VAT
