We are looking for a Business Support Officer who can help support our client’s Integrated Care Board (ICB) Surge Team for a 4 month internship period.The salary for this role is £30,279 per annum and will be hybrid with 2 days per week in their Marylebone office. The team works in the office Mondays & Tuesdays, and work from home the rest of the week + weekends.There would be an expectation for the successful candidate to work across a rota to facilitate a 7 day working week including bank holidays. There will be a total of 37,5 hours per week (8 hours per day/half hour Break). Weekends are compensated with time off in lieu; for example, if a full weekend is worked, the expectation is to take Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday off.About The Role:This is an exciting time to be joining the ICB Surge team, the team operationally supports the A&E departments across the system through the local implementation of the national OPEL framework (Operational Pressures Escalation Levels). This aims to assess emergency pressures across the healthcare service, understanding local system actions to provide assurance, escalation and where required additional support.The operating model of the System Coordination Centre (SCC) is a collaborative and supportive approach to all providers of care (local authority, primary care, community, mental health and acute) to ensure the healthcare service best manages emergency pressures.The post holder will be required to provide operational and administrative support, therefore good communication skills are required both in writing and in person. There will be an expectation for the individual to understand the performance systems within healthcare service and have the ability to work collaboratively with system colleagues. There would be an expectation for the successful candidate to work across a rota to facilitate a 7 day working week including bank holidays. As the role is operationally focused the successful candidate would need to demonstrate strong relationship and communication skills. It would be an advantage if the post holder has strong numeracy skills, spreadsheet experience and have the ability to translate complex performance information to share in a professional way to support decision making.How can you expect to spend your day?

  • Develop appropriate detailed performance information to support performance and quality monitoring.
  • Monitor pressures across London through online systems and communications with acute providers
  • Taking notes of daily meeting to discuss pressure surge and ensure actions are followed up
  • Monitor the submission of exception reports and data submissions from providers
  • Support the Surge Team managers with a variety of ad-hoc tasks

The role is on a rolling 7-day rota, which means you will be expected to work a weekend and take time off in lieu. There will be a total of 37,5 hours per week (8 hours per day/half hour Break). Weekends are compensated with time off in lieu; for example, if a full weekend is worked, the expectation is to take Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday off.Desired skills, personality and experience:

  • Educated to degree level or possesses the relevant experience
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal in order to deal with both incoming customer enquiries and internal teams around
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills are desirable
  • A proactive character able to keep on top of personal workload and additional requests
  • Comfortable working with all MS Office packages
  • Excellent administrative and planning skills
  • Able to prioritise own work effectively and deal with conflicting demands
  • The ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships and work with a range of individuals
  • Ability to quickly build relationships with stakeholders and other members of the ICB and wider Performance Team.
