We are recruiting for a Governance and Executive Support Officer for an education provider in North London
This is a permanent, part time opportunity working 3 days a week
Job purpose
The Governance and Executive Support Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring the organisation operates with the highest standards of governance and executive efficiency.
You role will support the Executive Team and Board, ensuring compliance with governance best practices and regulatory obligations while facilitating smooth communication and decision-making at the highest level.
Key duties
- Coordinate and facilitate Board and committee meetings, including scheduling, preparing agendas, collating and distributing board packs, taking accurate minutes and following up on agreed actions.
- Ensure governance policies, procedures, and statutory obligations are reviewed, updated, and adhered to.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of governance frameworks, including risk management.
- Maintain and manage governance records, ensuring all Board decisions, actions, and policies are documented and easily accessible.
Exec support
- Provide high-level administrative and organisational support to the CEO and other members of the Executive Team.
- Draft reports, presentations, and briefings for Board meetings and external stakeholders.
Compliance
- Ensure all regulatory and statutory requirements, including those set by Ofsted, OfS, Pearson and other relevant awarding bodies,
- Maintain and update statutory registers, declarations of interest, and governance documentation.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience in governance, executive support, preferably in an education setting
- Knowledge of corporate governance principles, compliance requirements, and best practices.
- Experience supporting Boards, senior executives, or committees, preferably within an educational environment.
Skills & Competencies:
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in report writing and minute-taking.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and governance processes.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and governance software/tools.
