PMO Lead for the Children's Strategy

  • Location: Hybrid (Remote and New Scotland Yard)

We are seeking a dedicated PMO Lead to oversee the Project Management Office for the Children's Strategy within the Transformation Department. This role is crucial for managing the delivery of 36 commitments aimed at enhancing the well-being and development of children across education, health, and social services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing large-scale projects, particularly those under external scrutiny.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Independently coordinate across different business groups within the Metropolitan Police Service (Met).
  • Track progress against milestones and prepare for high-level meetings with senior officials.
  • Develop a framework for measuring the impact of the commitments and tracking benefits throughout the project.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including internal departments and external entities.
  • Provide regular briefings and updates to ensure accountability and transparency.
  • Coordinate activities across different parts of the Met to ensure timely and effective implementation.
  • Prepare detailed reports and briefings for senior officials, including the Assistant Commissioner and the Policing Board.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in creating and/or leading a PMO, including setting up PMO processes and managing project portfolios.
  • Experience in managing projects subject to external scrutiny.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Meticulous planning and attention to detail.
  • Analytical skills and the ability to design effective evaluation methods.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of preparing detailed reports and briefings for senior officials.
  • Background in public sector or local authority work is beneficial but not essential.
