Main duties and responsibilities

The primary goal is to manage and coordinate the student administration systems and processes to enhance the student-academic cycle of activities.

Engage and develop a range of technical and critical skills to evaluate the PhD/MRes programmes administration, enhancing the student-academic cycle of activities.

Act as the first point of contact for Research Degrees enquiries, informing and liaising with the Research Degrees Office of any changes to student records and mode of attendance.

Monitor Tier 4/student visa students vacation periods and working arrangements within the School in accordance with UKVI regulations and the university’s code of practice for research degree students.

Organise the PhD Taught Programme and additional PhD workshops as required in liaison with the PhD Director

Coordinate the QMPlus environment for the Doctoral Programme activities ensuring the correct information is displayed to users.

Coordinate and maintain a log register of supervisor allocations, monitoring student- staff progress

Experience

Proven record of administrative experience in the Higher Education sector or educational private sector

Significant experience in programme administration

Experience of using large student databases, preferably SITS

Experience of a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), preferably Moodle

Detailed knowledge and understanding of higher education institutional procedures, regulations and codes of practice on student administration

Effective use of IT systems in support of role including use of databases, with excellent proficiency in use of MS Office, particularly Excel

Skills

Strong interpersonal skills and relationship building skills

Excellent written, verbal and numerical skills

Good organisational skills, able to balance competing work demands and manage own time in order to meet imminent and distant deadlines

Ability to exercise sound judgment and resolve issues and problems independently, seeking advice where appropriate

Qualifications

Educated to degree level in a relevant field or equivalent experience
