The role holder is responsible for providing a comprehensive and high quality post award accounting service for the Client European Commission [EC] research portfolio.The role holder provides a wide-ranging specialist support on all aspects of EC funded research projects, including liaising with, and providing expert financial and administrative advice to academic staff, departmental administrators, external collaborators and the European Commission Directorates. They manage the post award financial monitoring of each departments EC research portfolio, liaising with the department, and providing a consistent and visible support. They arrange and co-ordinate internal and external audits ensuring a full audit trail is maintained, including providing reports on work in progress. They provide vital support, training and continual guidance to the Research Finance Administrators [RFA] in the Post Award Team, within RIS, applying a detailed understanding of EC methods, systems and procedures. They will focus on complex EC funded research contracts, proactively interpreting the contract requirements and providing specialist advice. They will ensure that the EC terms and conditions and deadlines are adhered to and that the Universitys financial regulations, policies and procedures are followed. Training will be provided but previous experience in EC research finance reporting is essential.
