Technical Support Officer
(This is a Business Support Officer position!)
3 to 6 month ongoing contract
Mon to Fri 9am to 5pm (Hybrid - 2 days in office)
19 an hour umbrella

Role Purpose
To deliver a comprehensive, efficient, confidential, flexible, effective business support to the Place Department, under the direction of the Business and Engagement Lead, to ensure effective service delivery within the divisions and wider department. To provide business support to relevant departmental Senior Managers in a prompt and professional manner, acting as the first point of contact for customers, colleagues, and partners (both internal and external).

Responsibilities
  • Deliver a comprehensive business support function, when required for the Executive Director for Place and the wider Departmental Management Team in the absence of the Business and Engagement Lead ensuring exemplary organisation, preparedness, and efficiency.
  • Work in a collaborative manner and effectively engage with MPs, Councillors, Executive Directors, Directors, Senior Managers, Service Heads, Central Government Officers, Chief Officers of other Authorities, Directors of external organisations, external partners and stakeholders and members of the public, as requested.
  • Be the first point of contact for allocated Senior Managers, dealing with complex issues, sensitive calls, undertaking research effectively where possible, resolving issues immediately whilst demonstrating the highest levels of customer service and confidentiality.
  • Oversee and maintain the electronic in-box and diary of allocated Senior Managers to maximise their time; highlighting urgent issues that need attention using your initiative to act where appropriate, commission work for the relevant Senior Manager and monitor items to ensure timely and quality completion.
  • Manage the monthly Cabinet Member briefings for Place and other internal meetings such as Clean Programme Board meetings, Departmental Management Team meetings and any information briefings for which the two Senior Managers holds over-all responsibility.

Requirements
  • Experience of working in a support role and primarily dealing with inbox and diary management to a high level
  • Experience working as a Business Support Officer
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage time effectively
  • Flexible and multi-skilled to support service provision accordingly and projects as required
  • Experience working in a council or housing association
