Work Experience & Placement Officer

We are seeking a Work Experience & Placement Officer to drive our college’s engagement with employers, securing high-quality work experience and industry placements for our 16-18-year-old students, including those on T-level study programmes. This role is perfect for individuals with a strong background in business development, sales, or employer engagement who are passionate about making a significant impact on students’ futures and bridging the gap between education and the workplace.

Day-to-day of the role of a work placement officer :
  • Source and secure suitable work experience and placement opportunities by liaising with employers and matching students accordingly.
  • Manage a caseload of 16-18-year-old students, ensuring effective planning, coordination, and delivery of work experience and T-level industry placements.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with employers, curriculum teams, students, and college support services to ensure smooth placement operations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employers and curriculum teams for placement-related queries and support.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of employer contacts, placement opportunities, and student progress using the College’s CRM system.
Required Skills & Qualifications for the work placement officer role:
  • Proven experience in sourcing and coordinating work experience or industry placement opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability in sourcing and securing new employers for work placements, apprenticeships, or work-related projects.
  • Ability to identify and assess potential business opportunities, establish new employer partnerships, and expand the college’s network of industry partners.
  • Strong presentation and persuasion skills to effectively pitch the benefits of partnerships to new employers.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of T-level programmes, related funding, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve business development goals, including expanding employer networks and increasing the number of placement opportunities.
