Description:

The Student Attendance Officer's role is to support the school in the monitoring and tracking of full-time student attendance and punctuality. The Student Attendance Officer will also act as pastoral support to students who find it difficult to sustain regular attendance or are at risk of failing their course for other reasons.

Key Duties of the Student Attendance Officer:

  • Support students in maintaining high attendance levels and to ensure students remain on their course and are successful
  • Assist tutors in tracking and following up on student attendance on a daily basis
  • Maintain a reporting system with regards to student attendance and behaviour
  • Act as a link between tutors, students and parents
  • Monitor and work with students whose attendance falls below the agreed levels
  • Drive the disciplinary process ensuring all relevant paperwork is completed in a timely manner
  • Attend monthly risk meetings and complete the at risk register
  • Provide a first point of contact for students/parents reporting absence
  • Undertake all mandatory training in a timely manner as required e.g. Safeguarding, Prevent.
  • Other duties as required which are broadly consistent with the general functions and grading of this position

Key Skills/Experience Required for the role of Student Attendance Officer:

  • Previous administrative experience
  • Experience of working within an education setting would be a strong advantage
  • Working to deadlines
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office applications (in particular Excel and Word)

This is an excellent role for an experienced Student Attendance Officer to work within a busy team. In return you will receive between £15 - £17 per hour.
