As a BMS Commissioning Engineer, you will be a vital part of implementing advanced Building and Energy Management Systems (BEMS) for significant projects in central London. Your primary responsibility will be the precise commissioning of these systems, guaranteeing their optimal performance and adherence to all contractual requirements.
You will collaborate directly with project managers, engineering teams, and contractors, contributing to the deployment of sophisticated smart building technologies. Your work will directly impact building performance, energy conservation, and operational management. This position is based in the Broadgate area.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out pre-commissioning and full commissioning of BMS control panels and peripherals.
- Load, test, and verify BMS software and graphics on-site to ensure full functionality.
- Conduct off-site panel inspections and software testing before installation.
- Participate in on-site witness testing and commissioning meetings.
- Ensure all BMS systems comply with contract specifications and industry standards.
- Work collaboratively with project managers and engineers to deliver high-quality results.
- Manage multiple projects in parallel when required.
- Uphold ISO 9001 Quality Control System standards throughout commissioning activities.
- Ensure all testing is performed using calibrated meters and test equipment.
- Provide accurate as-built information for engineering records.
- Complete all commissioning documentation and site records in a timely manner.
- Work efficiently to maximise project profitability.
- Identify additional work requirements and support project managers in claiming extra costs.
- Record and report any site delays, including causes and impacts.
- Maintain a detailed site diary, logging meetings, client updates, and third-party interactions.
- Provide technical support and mentorship to less experienced engineers.
- Assist colleagues in problem-solving and troubleshooting.
- Take a lead role in commissioning activities when required.
Required Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of BMS control systems, including Schneider, Trend, Distech, Tridium, and Delta.
- Technical qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (ONC/HNC standard or above).
- Familiarity with building services (mechanical and electrical systems).
- Knowledge of BS7671, CIBSE, and BSRIA industry standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.
- CSCS cardholder (or willingness to obtain one).
- Full UK driving licence (clean).
- Experience in smart building technology and system integrations.
- Awareness of cloud-based BMS solutions and IoT protocols.
- Strong networking skills within the BMS controls industry.
