Shirley Parsons is delighted to be working with a high-pace start-up who have a vision to free our planet from permanent waste in the feminine hygiene market. They are searching for a Quality & Cost Engineer with an ability to lead people, influence internal and external stakeholders and support the growth of the business. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for multiple aspects of NPI, quality and cost management across pre and post launch products.

Quality & Cost Engineer Responsibilities:

New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Supporting Product teams with the development and introduction of new products
  • Supporting the introduction and/or transfer of new equipment in manufacturing partner facilities
  • Defining and delivering QA and QC requirements prior to launch
  • Qualification of materials and processes to release MP
  • Ensuring processes are fit for high volume manufacturing prior to entering mass production
  • Manage the introduction of new materials and processes into current production

Supplier Quality

  • Lead supplier audits
  • Work with Supply Chain to manage the Approved Supplier List (ASL)
  • Actively work with suppliers to develop existing quality systems and business processes

Product Quality

  • Monitor and report on performance of product in the field
  • Proactive investigation and resolution of quality and reliability issues
  • Reporting on agreed quality and production metrics
  • Act as point of contact to B2B partners for any technical queries or issues which arise

Business Management Systems

  • Work within current process framework
  • Review and development of the existing QMS processes

Cost Management

  • Tracking & reporting of anticipated product cost during NPI phase
  • Identification of cost opportunity on current product ranges
  • Working with Supply Chain to source suitable alternative sources and materials
  • Calculation of cost reduction impact on product
  • Monitoring and management of cost reduction programmes

Quality & Cost Engineer Skills & Experience:

  • FMCG experience desirable
  • Broad technical experience across new product introduction & quality disciplines
  • Lead auditor (ISO 9001) certified preferred
  • Experience with high volume converting lines with low value products is preferred
  • Experience in cost management desirable
