Structural Engineer - Bridges

Our client, a prominent player in the railway sector, is currently seeking an Experienced Structural Engineer specialising in bridges, to join their London-based team on a permanent basis.

• Preparation of concept, schematic, and detailed designs for various civil structures
• Undertaking detailed analysis, design computations, and running complex models and constructability reviews
• Preparation of sketches and technical reports
• Peer review of detailed calculations, technical reports, and design concepts
• Co-ordination of designs with other project team consultants and clients
• Participation in internal design team meetings and external meetings with clients and other consultants
• Visits to construction and project sites to perform site inspections and provide observation reports and supporting engineering advice
• Guiding and liaising with design teams of engineers and drafters to ensure project objectives are being achieved
• Identifying opportunities for follow-on work, developing proposals and bids on small to medium scale projects, and supporting bids and proposal development on large scale projects

• Membership or working towards membership of a relevant Engineering Institution
• Experience in civil, heavy civil, structural, or bridge design
• Ability to undertake day-to-day engineering tasks with little supervision
• Experience with structural software (e.g., MIDAS, LUSAS, Strand)
• Geotechnical skills would be advantageous
