This is a fantastic opportunity for an Architect to make the move into Design Management in a client-side role. This role will work across acquisition due diligence, new scheme feasibility and planning, and design development for projects.

This opportunity is a newly-created role within the London based real estate team of a PE backed education group. They have a portfolio of over 80 schools internationally and a significant growth target over the next 5 years. As a result, there is an increasing workload for the real estate team to identify new opportunities for new schools and deliver upgrades and refurbishment to existing schools across the globe. They offer a great environment to collaborate with internal and external partners, work internationally, and develop your own career. The business operates with hybrid working; at least 3 days per week required in their central London office.
Description
As a Design Manager in this client side role you will:
- Support the acquisition team with site acquisition due diligence to ensure viability of future sites
- Develop designs for refurbishment and reconfiguration projects to deliver quality spaces and optimise capacity where possible
- Work with local teams and school leadership teams for expansion and/or refurbishment projects to ensure space upgrades are functional and will delivery quality educational environments
- Prepare design briefs for new build projects and appoint local architecture teams to deliver designs which you will oversee from a quality perspective
Profile
A successful Design Manager should:
- Be an Architect or Architectural Designer (ideally with 2+ years' post-qualification experience)
- Proven experience in producing feasibility studies, concept designs, and project reviews for clients
- Relevant project experience of spaces that have functional purpose and multiple user groups (e.g. schools, museums, events spaces, etc.)
- K-12 education project experience is advantageous but not essential
- International project experience is advantageous but not essential
You must have the right to work in the UK and will be able to work in the office in central London at least 3 days per week.
