My client, a leading Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation contractor with operations in Ireland, Mainland Europe, the Nordics, and the UK, is seeking a skilled Design Manager to join their London team. With an impressive portfolio spanning Pharmaceutical, Data Centre, Healthcare, Education, Commercial, and Power Generation sectors, my client is renowned for delivering innovative solutions across complex projects.

The Role

As a Design Manager, you will play a critical role in leading BIM coordination efforts, working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners. You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless integration of design elements, overseeing BIM processes, and driving project success from conception to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and lead Project BIM Coordinators, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Act as the main liaison between internal engineers, design teams, and third-party contractors.
  • Develop project timelines and BIM delivery strategies alongside the BIM Manager.
  • Manage the workload of Revit Technicians, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
  • Facilitate weekly coordination meetings and workshops, documenting outcomes and follow-up actions.
  • Implement and maintain project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEP).
  • Support the evolution of BIM standards across the business in collaboration with the BIM Manager.
  • Administer and maintain the Master Revit MEP Model and BIM 360 workspace.
  • Coordinate the creation of detailed 2D Builderworks and Services Drawings.
  • Produce clash detection reports using Navisworks and ensure resolution.
  • Oversee the completion of "As Built" documentation for Operational & Maintenance Files.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
What We're Looking For

To excel in this role, you should have:

  • A degree in an engineering discipline or a trade qualification (e.g., Electrician, Plumber, Fitter).
  • At least 6 years of experience in a Lead BIM Coordinator role, managing project workflows and deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in:
    • Autodesk AutoCAD minimum 4 years experience.
    • Autodesk Revit minimum 8 years experience.
    • Autodesk Navisworks minimum 5 years experience.
    • Autodesk Fabrication MEP and Solibri Model Checker.
  • Strong expertise in 3D coordination of mechanical and electrical systems, including pipework, ventilation, and plant.
  • Proven track record in producing 2D construction drawings and interpreting architectural and M&E plans.
  • Experience delivering BIM projects valued at over £1 million across at least three major projects.
