My client in Greater London is looking to appoint talented Assistant Director for Community Safety on a Contract basis.

The role will drive the Council's vision for community safety, resilience, and surveillance systems. You will lead a multidisciplinary team to reduce crime, safeguard vulnerable groups, and ensure robust emergency preparedness across the borough.

About the role:

Based in Greater London (Hybrid):

  • Oversee the Community Safety Strategy, including CCTV operations, anti-social behavior (ASB) reduction, and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) support services.
  • Lead emergency planning and resilience initiatives, ensuring compliance with national frameworks and rapid response to crises.
  • Represent the Council at regional/national forums (e.g., policing bodies, safeguarding boards) to influence policy and secure funding.
  • Manage a 10m+ revenue budget and 130+ staff, driving efficiency and innovation in service delivery.

About you:
You will have the following experiences:

  • Extensive experience in a similar role, specifically within Community Safety in a Local Authority context.
  • Proven experience leading and managing Community Safety Teams, delivering impactful outcomes in crime reduction and public safety.
  • Hands-on experience in emergency planning and response, including being on-call as part of an emergency response framework.
  • Local Authority experience is essential
