The Company

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an accomplished and highly motivated truck sales leader to make a significant contribution to the growth and development of this leading commercial vehicle distributor. Our client is a large scale, premium brand business - part of a major £850m Group - operating from multiple sites around the South East. The company is a recognised leader in its core sectors and has a long-standing reputation for the supply and service of market leading products, great people and a commitment to customer satisfaction and service excellence. As part of a planned succession and to support continued expansion, a high achieving Sales Director is sought to lead the sales team and drive growth across the multi-site network.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Managing Director and a key member of the SLT, you will be responsible for developing and implementing high-impact sales strategies that align with the company’s growth objectives. You will lead a team of experienced sales professionals, driving sales performance with both existing and new customers, whilst fostering a culture of excellence and integrity. Enhancing customer engagement, establishing strong manufacturer partnerships, developing the sales team and technology innovation will all feature high on your agenda.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Leadership - Provide dynamic leadership to a multi-site sales team, ensuring targets are consistently met and exceeded across all branches
  • Strategy Development - Design and implement strategic sales plans that expand the company’s customer base and ensure its strong presence within the market
  • Customer Relationship Management - Build and maintain lasting relationships with key accounts, fleet managers and new prospects to drive sales and customer loyalty
  • Performance Monitoring - Set sales objectives, monitor KPIs and report on performance metrics to the executive team, identifying areas for improvement
  • Budgeting & Forecasting - Develop and manage the sales department budget and forecast, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to achieve maximum ROI
  • Market Analysis - Stay updated on market trends, customer needs and competitor activity, using insights to adapt strategies and gain a competitive edge
  • Collaboration - Work closely with other departments, including Marketing, Aftersales and Finance to align sales activities with broader company goals

About You

  • Proven track record as a successful Sales Director, Head of Sales or similar senior leadership role within the commercial vehicle industry
  • Demonstrable experience leading multi-site teams and delivering sales growth in a competitive environment
  • Strong understanding of sales performance metrics and ability to leverage data for strategic decision-making
  • Exceptional leadership, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a high-performing team
  • Results driven sales leader, comfortable leading by example and passionate about achieving great success for you and your team
