Based in London, an excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced BD specialist to join a leading international law firm to take primary responsibility for business development activities for the Capital Markets and Finance practices and clients on a 12 month fixed term contract basis.
The firm’s capital markets practice represents issuers and market participants worldwide on disclosure and corporate governance matters, corporate and securities regulatory issues and transactional structuring. The firm’s lawyers have helped formulate the vocabulary of debt and equity techniques that today routinely move business transactions and regularly advise clients on company-critical and precedent-setting financings, which span the spectrum of capital markets transactions. They are pioneers and global leaders in debt finance transactions, advising clients on a broad range of financing matters. They have also been advising on structured finance for decades, having pioneered many of the key products used widely in today’s markets. The Business Development Manager will enjoy a broad and varied role working closely with BD colleagues in the US and EMEA region and managing and proactively executing the EMEA Practice Group plan. Pitch support will represent a key element of the role. Sharing pitch best practice within the EMEA BD team, you will support client presentations, prepare credentials and pitches, tailoring materials for individual clients, and track, store and produce standard text and materials for pitches, ensuring consistency of pitch material and seeking improvements in quality. The successful applicant will act as Client Manager for up to three of firm’s key clients, analysing data on clients, people and markets, keeping partners informed of any developments and leading on client feedback initiatives. On the marketing side, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining key messages and marketing materials and will work with the Communications team on profile raising and thought-leadership initiatives. In addition, the role holder will coordinate awards and submissions work withing the practice group and plan and support events.
You will be a bright graduate or equivalent with a proven track record of business development in an international law firm or professional services organisation. Flexible and adaptable, in order to work with ease cross-functionally and across borders, the Business Development Manager will possess a strong ability to build credibility and trust with senior stakeholders and excellent organisational skills to manage multiple responsibilities amid competing priorities, tight deadlines and changing business demands and opportunities. The ideal candidate will also have good knowledge of the Capital Markets and Finance sector.
