My client a medium sized law firmĀ are currently seeking a Legal Billing Specialist to join theirĀ finance team. This role is crucial for managing billing processes and interacting effectively with fee earners and partners. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal billing, particularly in long-term PI litigation, and experience with the Elite 3E accounting system.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Prepare and post complex interim and final bills for all departments, ensuring final reconciliation at the time of billing.
  • Conduct monthly billing runs for other departments, checking VAT, making amendments, posting, and printing.
  • Maintain strict review and control of disbursement and WIP balances.
  • Maintain charge-out rates and manage file closures, including the write-off of irrecoverable WIP and disbursements.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with the Chief Financial Officer to report on revenue control and billing issues.
  • Perform additional duties as delegated by the Chief Financial Officer.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant IT systems.
  • High standard of numeracy and precise attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and Solicitors Accounts Rules.
  • Previous experience in a solicitor's accounts office, with direct experience of billing and familiarity with accounts procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of alternative funding methods.
  • Good standard of education and/or part/fully accounting qualified.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills, well-organised, uses initiative, and prioritises appropriately.
