Job Overview:
A central London Local Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Control Manager to lead and oversee compliance and enforcement activities within our Building Control (BC) team. This critical role involves managing the issuance of compliance and stop notices, handling reports of dangerous structures, and leading the 24/7 dangerous structures response team. You will be responsible for a team of specialists, ensuring that all operations are in strict alignment with the Building Regulations, London Building Acts, and relevant legal frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance Oversight: Manage the implementation of compliance and stop notices for Building Control applications.
- Dangerous Structures Management: Lead the response to reports of dangerous structures, manage related contracts, and oversee the 24/7 team dedicated to this area.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and guide a team of BC specialists, ensuring high standards of service delivery and professional excellence.
- Legal Enforcement: Ensure all actions comply with legal requirements, particularly in the enforcement of Building Regulations and the London Building Act.
- In-depth Knowledge: Strong understanding of Building Regulations and the London Building Acts.
- Licensing: Licensed to Class 3 with the Building Safety Regulator.
- Team Management: Proven experience in managing a team of professionals within a building control environment.
- Legal Expertise: Familiarity with legal processes related to Building Control and enforcement.
- Crisis Management: Experience in managing dangerous structures and leading emergency responses.
- Strong experience with the Building Regulations and London Building Acts.
- Registered to Class 3 with the Building Safety Regulator.
- Experience with dangerous structures teams or responding to dangerous structures call-outs.
- Proven track record in managing a team of professionals within Building Control.
- Deep understanding and experience in the legal enforcement of Building Regulations.
