I'm currently supporting a global transportation company in their search for a permanent Head of Projects, who will be responsible for steering a dynamic portfolio of systems implementation and continuous improvement initiatives

Job Title: Head of ProjectsSalary: Up to £120,000Location: Westminster, London - Fully On-SiteStart Date: ASAP (Considering Notice Periods of 3 Months)

Responsibilities:

  • Ownership for a portfolio of projects involving new technologies, processes, and continuous improvements.
  • Ensure that projects are initiated efficiently, including the creation of charters and high-level business cases.
  • Provide regular updates to senior stakeholders regarding project progress.
  • Collaborate with wider team, such as Project Managers, Co-Ordinators and Change Leads to identify challenges within the project portfolio and take necessary action to mitigate risks.
  • Oversee the line management and personal development of resources in Project Management, Change Management, Business Analysis, and PMO functions.
  • Lead the creation and ongoing improvement of change and project management processes and governance, clearly communicating what constitutes best practice to your team and establishing the standard they should adhere to.
  • Motivate and mentor the team, driving them to achieve higher levels of performance.

Experience/Requirements:

  • Proven experience and knowledge of portfolio, programme, and project management principles, project life cycle phases and methodologies.
  • Capable of delivering short-term Business As Usual (BAU) project requirements while also aligning with long-term strategic objectives.
  • Previous or current experience in line management of change, project management, and/or business analysis teams.
  • A successful history of leading digital and technology programmes or project portfolios, including the implementation of ERP solutions.
  • Able to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, diving into the details when necessary.
  • Skilled in stakeholder management and credible in engaging with senior leadership at the C-suite level.
  • A passionate and motivating communicator, with the ability to to explain complex subjects in a clear, concise manner.

This is a fully on-site role, requirring the selcetd candidate be on-site 5 days a week in Westminster.
