Residential Living Recruitment is recruiting a General Manager for a fantastic Student Accommodation (PBSA) development in London. Take on this opportunity to join a market leading organisation which provides the highest standard of student accommodation.

The successful applicant will lead a large on-site team and be responsible for one the flagship PBSA developments in London.

Role : General Manager

Hours : 40 hours Monday to Friday

Location : London

Salary : £50,000 - £55,000 + bonus

Role Duties:

  • Oversee and support day to day operations
  • Accountability for the financial performance of the property including ownership of the P&L.
  • To build relationships and work closely with senior members and clients across the business
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills in order to build and maintain a high achieving team
  • To be part of an on-call rota as required by the business
  • Taking full ownership of the Resident experience and wellbeing
  • Make sure supplies, stores, materials, consumables, spares and contracted services are procured economically and competitively
  • Assisting with purchasing and stock control for soft FM services
  • Working closely with the maintenance team and Compliance Manager to implement and maintain all health and safety policies, and risk assessments
  • Build & maintain relationship with our university nomination partners.
  • Ensure effective, personalised tours are conducted to show off our brand, the property and advising rates, add-on services and booking information
  • Overseeing front of house payments, updating documents and weekly procedures and reporting any issues to your manager
  • Assisting the Finance Team with the collection of rent instalments and following up residents with late payments
  • Promote, live, and breathe our policies and procedures
  • Managing staffing levels to ensure 24-hour building coverage
  • Manage the recruitment of team members in line with the HR standard operating procedures and recruitment and selection policies
  • Strive to maintain an engaged and motivated team environment within your site, promoting performance excellence
  • Deal with any issues regarding staff performance in a timely manner in line with HR operating procedures and seeking guidance when required
  • Manage conflict resolution regarding students at your site
  • Liaise and maintain relationships with the local communities and various authorities
  • Reporting all incidents in line with the business contingency plan
  • Promote the company experience to prospective and existing residents
  • Handle complaints professionally and compassionately, and ensure they are logged accurately for follow-up and resolution, reporting as necessary to other departments or senior managers
  • Treat company documents as private and confidential, ensuring communications are not shared or forwarded, and comply with EU Data Protection regulations
  • Executing a successful site turnover

  • A flexible, hands-on individual who is happy to get involved in all areas of the business as required, particularly during busy periods is essential
  • Friendly, personable, and approachable, catering to the needs of a diverse international customer base
  • Passionate about PBSA and offering an excellent student experience
  • Demonstrate a prudent, financial acumen.
  • To possess and demonstrate leadership skills
  • Approved qualification an advantage
  • Detail-oriented, efficient and organised
  • Excellent problem solving and time management skills
  • Some travel may be required which may include driving or an occasional overnight stay as part of your role
