Client DescriptionThe Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, safety, and overall management of the physical environment at International Students House. This includes ensuring that the building operates efficiently, meets health and safety standards and provides a comfortable and safe living and working environment for residents, staff and visitors. This role requires occasional evening and weekend work, as well as attendance outside of regular hours for emergencies. Participation in an on-call rota is also required. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Facilities Manager to contribute to the smooth operation of International Students House, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment. Key responsibilities
  • Manage programme of remedial, cyclical and planned maintenance works.
  • Manage the 5-year property maintenance plan.
  • Support the Senior Management team with the executing of property capital projects and expenditure.
  • Ensure a high standard of hygiene practices, cleanliness and efficiencies is provided by the housekeeping team
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with health, fire and safety standards and regulations.
  • Oversee performance of contractors, suppliers, and consultants and negotiate best value for money contract terms.
  • Line management of the Maintenance team and Head Housekeeper.
  • Ensure high levels of customer service and operational standards
  • Develop, agree and manage the department's budget (both revenue and capital), ensuring regular monitoring and reporting.
  • Track and evaluate energy consumption, identifying opportunities and strategies to reduce usage and enhance the efficiency of building services.
  • Manage and monitor the properties Environment and Sustainability initiatives for the organisation across its sites. General
  • To champion the organisations aims and goals and to support the mission and core values of International Students House.
  • To establish and maintain good relationships with all clients, staff, users and customers.
  • To undertake any other further tasks or duties as reasonably required by the Operations Director. Person Specification
  • Significant and relevant facilities management experience (hard and soft services).
  • BIFM, IRWFM, RICS, NEBOSH/IOSH qualifications or equivalent.
  • Excellent M&E knowledge, and sound experience of building construction.
  • Excellent communication skills verbal, written and IT literate.
  • Ability to manage a varied and extensive workload with fast moving priorities.
  • Ability to work on multi-site properties in Great Portland Street, Kennington and Balham.
  • Highly customer service orientated and delivery focused.
  • Ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary team and manage specialist service providers.
  • Experience in budget management and departmental business planning.
  • Hours of Work The average working week is 40 hours per week with flexibility to cover the on-call rota. Salary & Benefits Salary £55,000-60,000 per annum, depending on experience + on-call supplement, Holiday entitlement 20 days holidays plus bank holidays rising at the rate of 1 extra day for each year worked, up to a maximum of 30 days. Holiday agreed in advance with your line manager. Pension ISH has a contributory pension scheme (SAUL - Superannuation Arrangements of the University of London). Meal Allowance A £2.75 food allowance per shift is given for use in the ISH Catering facilities Travel Loan After the probationary period an interest free loan is available for an annual travel card.
