Business Data Analyst - SQL - Front Office
Daily Rate: From 500 to 580 (inside IR35 via umbrella)
Contract Initial End Date: 31st December 2025
Location: Canary Wharf, London (Just a 4-minute walk from Canary Wharf train station) (3 days onsite)

Our client is a leading organisation in the financial sector, committed to leveraging data for strategic decisions. They are seeking an experienced Business Data Analyst to join their dynamic team in Canary Wharf. This role offers the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment, allowing you to maintain a balance between in-office collaboration and remote flexibility.


Role Overview:
As a Business Data Analyst, you will play a crucial role in analysing transaction and market risk data to support the market risk limit review process. Your insights will aid in decision-making and will contribute significantly to the organisation's strategic goals.


Key Responsibilities:


Analyse transaction and market risk data to support the market risk limit review process.
Perform drill downs and queries on data using Business Intelligence tools and SQL, identifying key issues and themes.
Proactively manage dependencies, risks, exceptions, and issues to ensure smooth operations.
Prepare and present materials for quarterly limit reviews with Desk Heads and Market Risk Managers.
Serve as a subject matter expert for internal queries related to your workstream.
Collaborate with technology teams to design and implement process enhancements.
Partner with stakeholders across various functions, including Business, Risk, Audit, and Compliance.
Assist in project management to drive delivery of key changes across Volcker and Price Risk projects.

Qualifications:


Minimum of 5 years experience in risk and control, data analysis, and project management.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to negotiate at senior levels; external communication may be required.
Knowledge of the Volcker Rule and Basel/FRTB is a plus.
Project management experience in a Markets Front Office environment preferred.
Familiarity with market risk, global markets trading products, and services, including Fixed Income, Equity, Currencies & Commodities, and/or Securities Services.
Understanding of Front Office trading processes and trade lifecycle within a large bank/dealer setting.

Skills and Competencies:


Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
Proficient in SQL; knowledge of Python, Jira, and Tableau is beneficial.
Highly organised, capable of managing multiple requests and prioritising effectively.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and mobilise teams in a collaborative environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in MS Office suite; knowledge of internal systems is a plus.

Education:


Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
