We are currently collaborating with a prestigious University in London, ranked among the Top 50 universities globally. They are recruiting for an Information Governance Officer on a temporary 3-month contract, with likely for extension. The rate is negotiable dependant on experience.

This role will play a key role in ensuring that University policies and procedures comply with UK GDPR, EU GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA), Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR) in order to minimise the risks of regulatory or legal exposure.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Assisting the Information Compliance team in handling statutory information requests (DPA, GDPR, FOIA), ensuring responses meet legal deadlines and compliance standards
  • Managing workloads effectively to balance requests and other duties, handling multiple cases simultaneously within statutory deadlines
  • Drafting well-researched, compliant responses, consulting senior managers and colleagues as needed
  • Maintaining accurate records of actions and advice related to requests and enquiries
  • Advising university staff on information compliance issues and guiding individuals requesting information under DPA, FOIA, and EIRs
  • Assessing data breaches promptly, escalating serious cases as needed
  • Maintaining departmental contacts for information compliance and supporting meetings as required

Experience required:

  • Experience of managing and responding to information requests e.g. FOI requests and/or SAR

Working hours:

  • 35 hours per week
  • Hybrid working
  • Flexible working days
