An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and capable Business Development specialist to join a rapidly growing independent law firm as a Business Development Manager for their highly regarded Corporate Tech team.

The firm’s Corporate Tech Division has extensive experience in advising emerging technology, life sciences and digital health businesses at all stages of their life cycle, from early stage investment to exit, as well as acting for venture capitalists, angel investors, syndicates and institutional investors. The firm’s legal knowledge is underpinned by the latest technology to create better insights, better levels of customer service and increased efficiency for clients. Splitting your time between the firm’s London and Cambridge offices, you will set the agenda for your group, taking the lead on pushing projects through to completion and developing a successful and happy team around you. Acting as a strategic partner, you will be responsible for providing and driving high value advice and initiatives, whilst contributing to the firm's overall business development strategy and will guide your core teams to find connections with the wider firm that empower business development at all levels. The role holder will have day to day contact with a variety of key stakeholders, including Senior Partners and fee earners, and will need to win their trust in order to make credible BD proposals. As this role is strategically based across both the London and Cambridge offices, flexibility and teamwork will be a must and it will be crucial for the successful applicant to quickly build an understanding of the Cambridge legal market and its client and intermediary network and ensure that all members of the department are aware of key issues and trends in the law. Delivering plans within budget and to agreed timings, the Business Development Manager will identify and develop practice specific products and services that can be used to position the practice competitively. Identifying clients and intermediaries which are the most appropriate for growth, you will play a central role in the development of a and client programme for early stage fast growth clients and will develop and action client plans and support the production of high quality pitch documents and credential statements, On the marketing side, it will be key to plan strategic initiatives to promote the firm’s brand awareness, reputation and relationships in the Cambridge legal market, developing the firm's profile through PR, editorial, thought leadership, market research, select conferences, newsletters and seminars. In addition, you will guide the preparation of directory submissions; create marketing collateral and lead on the coordination and delivery of events in both Cambridge and London.

Highly organised and proactive, with a swift, analytical approach to problems, the ideal candidate will be a bright graduate or equivalent with proven executive business development or enterprise strategic sales experience, to include roles with a client development focus and experience in pitch and proposal preparation and appropriate coaching to those delivering pitches. Strategic and creative with strong commercial nous, the Business Development Manager must be a flexible, team player with excellent communication skills and will possess an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with energy, enthusiasm and drive.
