Senior BD Manager (FTC)

This is an exciting new role to join a leading law firm, and really develop your career, whilst demonstrating your skillset at this level. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the firm's strategy for winning work in jurisdictions without a physical office. This role is essential in fostering and nurturing strong relationships with their network, which includes over 300 partner law firms worldwide. You'll work closely with the Co-Heads of the Global Markets (GM) group, providing high-quality, strategic business development advice to help grow and develop client relationships on both regional and global scales. This position offers broad exposure to top-tier multinational businesses and regional champions, driving commercial opportunities and contributing to the firm's success.

  • Senior Stakeholder Influence: Ensure GM group priorities are understood and supported by senior stakeholders. Embed GM initiatives within the firm and align with the overall MBD plan.
  • Strategic Advice: Assist in setting and reviewing the GM group's strategic priorities. Advise regional partner leads and deliver the GM strategy, meeting targets and milestones.
  • Client Targeting: Identify and develop client and business opportunities through GM initiatives and ST relationships. Enhance client awareness and recommend effective targeting approaches.
  • Thought Leadership & Events Management: Organise a large event abroad and oversee regional ST events, including content development and speaker coordination.
  • Team Leadership: Guide GM team members to follow best practices and align with the GM strategy. Provide professional guidance, feedback, and coaching to help team members develop their careers. Manage the Global Markets budget and oversee annual appraisals and performance issues.
Ideal Experience:
  • Experience: c.10+ years in business development within a professional services environment.
  • Skills: Highly analytical, intellectually curious, and adept at solving complex problems. Strong communication skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.
  • Global Mindset: Experience working with multi-locational teams and across cultures. Resilient, proactive, and entrepreneurial with a focus on results.
  • Leadership: Proven experience managing high-performing professionals, both in person and virtually.
