This leading legal firm is looking for a Senior BD Manager to provide strategic support, advice and commercial guidance to lawyers and to lead on the delivery of business development activities.Responsibilities include:• Optimising brand awareness and developing target markets through robust Marketing and BD plans, managing the sales funnel and converting client opportunities.• Support the implementation of the firm’s overall Markets strategy and adopt appropriately aligned strategies at sector and/or department level.• Understand the key issues for the Sector/Department that they are operating in, mapping out emerging market trends, defining and articulating the firm’s USP and positioning the firm’s offering to meet the changing demands of challenging markets. Also provide BD support to the department that they are operating in - advising on the key strategic priorities for growth.• Identify opportunities to grow the business the firm does for the Firm’s most strategic clients and leading the approach to specific client management through effective management of internal client teams focusing on tangible marketing and BD outputs.• Working with the lawyers to produce, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of sector/ department business and marketing plans.• Working with lawyers to produce marketing and specialism plans to deliver the business objectives around profitable growth.• Lead on the production of relevant pitches and tenders, advising on win themes and commercial bid strategy, crafting tailored content and project managing the submission timeline.• Work with the Pursuits team on significant or strategic firm-wide pitches.• Advise lawyers on the most effective marketing strategies to deliver their objectives and collaborate with the wider Marketing team to implement a range of other key marketing activities, such as campaigns, legal directories submissions, industry award submissions, press and PR matters, marketing literature production, email marketing and website content.• Support the Marketing Leadership Team to develop a high performing marketing team - coaching more junior team members to apply best practice marketing techniques, leading on cross-team projects and role-modelling a culture of continuous improvement.You must be self-assured with the ability to instil confidence and trust with both internal and external clients, multipliers and key stakeholders and have the ability to challenge, drive and make suggestions for improvement. You will have experience of deploying the full marketing mix for legal services - e.g. for contentious and/or non-contentious work and have understanding of the London market, be pro-active and able to prioritise effectively, and be able to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment with constantly changing priorities. You will possess highly effective stakeholder management skills - able to influence people without formal authority and comfortable challenging more senior members of staff.
