Our clientMackie Myers has been retained by Speech and Language UK to recruit a Head of IT & Data. Speech and Language UK are a charity dedicated to helping children and young people in the UK who struggle with speech, language, and communication skills. Their Mission is to ensure that every child can face the future with confidence, regardless of their communication challenges.  The Role  The Head of IT and Data oversees all technology and data initiatives, supporting the 5-year strategy and managing IT and Data Operations across the charity, including two schools and hybrid and home teams across the country.As a key member of the strategy group, this role is crucial in driving digital transformation, enhancing data and technology use to improve our external impact, and fostering internal and partner collaboration.  With a strong background in IT operations, delivery, and data governance, the postholder has a passion for building capability to support the charity's mission.    Responsibilities
  • Build the existing technology strategy in line with the charity 5 year strategic plan.
  • Drive technology & data-driven growth capability to deliver strategy which includes public facing digital tools and improve engagement with supporters to build brand loyalty.
  • Improve technology and data capability, maturity & governance which includes leading the IT team, providing direction, guidance and coaching.
  • Develop an increasingly ‘self-service’ data capability centered on, but not restricted to, Azure data tooling and automation, serving internal and external customers.
  • Increase IT maturity, moving through a ‘defined’ level of operational maturity, with standardised processes increasingly well-documented and consistently followed, to a ‘managed’ level, where we not only follow defined processes but also monitor and measure performance, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Oversea data management and lead on data governance.
  • Improve business intelligence to increase automation in reporting to impact business operations quicker.
  • Deliver value for money technology services (security, infrastructure, support), this includes maintaining secure, efficient operations of all IT systems.
  • Business partnering with internal and external stakeholders at all seniority levels including trustees, educational directors and business managers.
  The Successful Candidate
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Experience in a similar IT role.
  • Not-For-Profit experience would be desirable but not essential.
  • Good working knowledge of IT systems, infrastructure and cybersecurity.
  • A track record of leading an IT department or evidence of leadership within a larger function.
  • Experience in building and maintaining strong working relationships at a senior executive level, and managing high performing technical and data teams.
  • Experience with MS 365, SharePoint, Azure, Power Platform, and Dynamics 365 – desirable.
