We're seeking an experienced and competent Responsible Individual on a self-employed basis for a children's home in Waltham Abbey. There is also an opportunity to take on a second home and a third home.

You will have a strong background in residential care, particularly within EBD/LD children's home environments. 

These homes will be new registrations and so we're seeking an experienced candidate who can ensure compliance, drive quality and support the home's registration and development. The successful candidate will have ideally been an RI previously.

Responsible Individual
  • Location: Waltham Abbey
  • Reports to: CEO, Directors, Area Operations Manager
Day-to-day of the role:
  • Take overall management responsibility for the residential operational services.
  • Provide strong leadership and direction to support the operational team.
  • Ensure that strategic mission, values, objectives, and ethos of care are implemented throughout the home(s) effectively and within budget.
  • Develop and sustain productive relationships with all external agencies and professional bodies.
  • Ensure all residential services are provided to the highest standard, promoting a culture of continuous development and securing the best outcomes for all children and young people.
  • Balance quality care services with the commercial realities of a profit-making company.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements, maintaining each establishment to a high standard.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • NVQ/QCF Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care, Children and Young People.
  • Extensive experience as a Responsible Individual or Registered Manager in an EBD/LD children's home environment.
  • A minimum 'Good' Ofsted inspection record.
  • Effective supervision and leadership skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and standards, and the ability to apply them in practice.

  • Leadership/Management: Visible leadership, knowledge of services, upholding values and standards, and contributing to company strategy.
  • Service Delivery: Ensure effective service delivery, implement quality improvement processes, and comply with Ofsted requirements.
  • Financial and Resources Management: Manage operations within budget, deliver KPI targets, and maintain financial control.
  • Workforce: Manage training needs, ensure high-quality service delivery, and promote professional development.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement improvement programmes, manage risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
