About the Role

This role is responsible for leading safeguarding efforts within the council and its partnerships, aiming for outstanding services for children and families. Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic & Operational Leadership: Driving improvements in safeguarding practices across the board.
  • Prioritizing Child Safety: Ensuring the safety and well-being of children is the highest priority.
  • Risk Response: Managing timely and appropriate responses to children at risk, following established procedures.

Essentially, this person is the lead on child protection, working to ensure all systems and responses are effective and prioritize the safety of children.

This individual possesses a robust foundation in social work, evidenced by their professional qualification and significant post-qualifying experience in a statutory setting. This experience includes managing high-risk cases and complex care planning, demonstrating a deep understanding of the legal framework supporting families and protecting vulnerable children within the public care system. Their demonstrated ability to navigate intricate situations involving significant harm, coupled with strategic inter-agency collaboration, positions them as a seasoned professional adept at handling the complexities inherent in child protection. Moreover, they meet the Department for Education’s standards for practice leaders and supervisors, indicating a proficiency in guiding and mentoring other professionals.

Furthermore, this person excels at fostering a positive and forward-thinking environment, capable of inspiring staff, children, and families towards sustainable change. They demonstrate a commitment to upholding best practice, regularly engaging in reflective practice and using evidence-based methods.
