About the Role:
Timeless Recruitment is working with a leading name in the construction industry, to recruit a Setting Out Engineer for an exciting and challenging role. As a Setting Out Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate setting out of piles, beams, and other critical elements of construction projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in surveying, reinforced concrete, and structural setting out, with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and effective team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting Out: Accurately set out piles, beams, and other structural elements on-site, ensuring precision and recording as-built data. Report any discrepancies to the engineering team.
  • Surveying: Conduct site surveys, level ground, and set out construction lines and benchmarks.
  • Liaison: Serve as the point of contact between engineers and the construction team, ensuring that plans and drawings are accurate and adhered to on-site.
  • Reinforced Concrete Support: Provide setting out assistance for reinforced concrete elements, ensuring alignment with construction plans.
  • Site Diary: Maintain a detailed site diary to document daily activities and progress.
  • Progress Reporting: Regularly report on site progress to both the engineering and surveying departments.
  • Coordination: Coordinate pile and beam layouts with the site layout drawings to ensure accurate construction.
  • Time Management: Plan and manage time effectively across multiple sites, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular quality control checks and ensure build records are up-to-date.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support on-site to address issues and challenges as they arise.
  • Supervision: Assist in supervising subcontractors to ensure work aligns with project specifications.
  • Quantity Checks: Verify the accuracy of quantities and calculations for materials and project requirements.
  • Collaboration: Liaise effectively with subcontractors, planners, quantity surveyors, and the wider construction team to ensure seamless execution of the project.
  • Site Meetings: Attend regular site meetings, ensuring client and contract managers are informed of project progress.
  • Report Preparation: Prepare and present progress reports, assisting with day-to-day site management activities.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar setting out or surveying role within the construction industry.
  • Surveying Knowledge: Solid understanding of surveying principles, equipment, and techniques.
  • Structural Setting Out: Experience in setting out structural elements such as piles, beams, and foundations.
  • Reinforced Concrete: Familiarity with reinforced concrete construction methods and setting out for concrete works.
  • Numeracy Skills: Strong mathematical skills for accurate calculations and measurements.
  • Data Interpretation: Ability to read, understand, and interpret construction drawings, plans, and data.
  • Teamwork: A collaborative approach with the ability to work closely with different teams across the site.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage with stakeholders, from site operatives to senior management.
  • AutoCAD: Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • CSCS Card: A valid CSCS card is required for site access.
