Upholstery Estimating Team Manager

Whitechapel, London

Up to £43,000 (Dep on experience)

Our esteemed client, located near central London, currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Upholstery Estimator Manager to join their renowned Upholstery, Furniture and Leather Manufacturing plant. With a legacy spanning nearly a century, they are a trusted and respected name in the Upholstery industry, synonymous with quality, craftsmanship, and unparalleled expertise within the domestic and commercial furniture and upholstery market.

Upholstery Estimating Manager Role:

Estimation

  • Managing the estimating team (3 full time staff)
  • Ensuring quotes are accurate and that the team have understood the scope and quoted for this accordingly
  • Ensuring quotes go out to clients accurately and on time
  • Reviewing initial construction drawings received and making sure client is aware of any changes required
  • Read and understand architectural drawings
  • Chasing up the quote to ensure the client has received it and that it covers everything
  • Reviewing all large quotations to ensure that we have not over or under charged
  • Once the order has been completed, review of any material variances between actual v budgeted costs, finding out why the variances have occurred and putting systems in place to ensure that they do not happen again

Upholstery Preproduction (Once order received)

  • Requesting initial construction drawings for joinery from client
  • Review of new drawings and commenting back to the client on changes needed
  • If there are changes to the scope of the job, getting the estimating team to revise and reissue the quote
  • Ensuring revised quote is agreed with the client and the order on sage SOP is updated
  • Ensuring all fabrics for the job are confirmed by the client before we order them
  • Ensuring the procurement manager orders all fabrics and advises the client of any long lead times
  • Creating drawings for clients when required
  • RAMS for projects where we are working on site

Upholstery Production

  • Ensuring that all order details are noted on the order file - Foam used; thread colour etc
  • Updating Sage order for any changes in scope or spec
  • Returning/ Selling any leftover excess materials once the order is completed
  • Ensuring that all orders are quality checked and photos are taken

Estimator Site Visits

  • Attendance
  • Taking Measurements
  • Ensuring outcome of site visit is documented and all actions are agreed with client
  • Asking estimating team to revise quote if applicable

Experience required for Upholstery Estimating Manager role:

  • Good knowledge of Autocad or other drawing software is necessary
  • You must be able to read architectural drawings
  • Have a good level / knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience estimating for jobs specific to Upholstery and Furniture
  • Good communication skills - you will be dealing with clients by phone and by email
  • Excellent people and time management skills
  • Solid understanding of how to review profitability on orders
  • Must be interested in learning about and understanding our business and products
