Senior Safety & Approvals Engineer | London | Hybrid

Are you an experienced Safety & Approvals Engineer looking for your next big challenge? Join a leading engineering company and play a pivotal role in delivering innovative rail solutions for a major new project. As a Senior Safety & Approvals Engineer, you will take responsibility for the safety case and approvals process of an exciting £500 million train order. This is your chance to contribute to a major project, ensure regulatory compliance, and work with teams across the globe in an inspiring environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage safety engineering and approval processes for new train designs, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
• Lead the creation of safety cases and certifications, coordinating with internal teams and external bodies such as ASBO and APBO.
• Liaise extensively with internal stakeholders to interpret and apply changing safety regulations.
• Travel internationally to locations including Japan and Italy for project collaboration (approximately four times per year).

Candidate Essentials:

• Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
• A systematic and methodical mindset, with the ability to handle complex safety and approval processes.
• Proven experience in Safety and Approvals Engineering within the rail rolling stock industry, either in consultancy or as a manufacturer.
• Strong knowledge of NTRs (Notified Technical Rules) and NTSN (National Technical Specification Notices).
• Ability to demonstrate regulatory compliance and safety standards.

Qualifications:

• Engineering Degree (or equivalent).
• Relevant safety and approvals certifications.
