AWS DevOps Engineer (CloudFormation) - Motoring organisation - London

Day rate: £550 - £650 (inside IR35)

My new client is one of the UK's largest Motoring Organisation's. They are looking for an AWS DevOps Engineer to join on a contract basis for 6 months in their London office.

Job Summary:As a DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing scalable AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like AWS CloudFormation. You will also develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments and infrastructure updates, ensuring our production, staging, and development environments are optimized for performance and cost. This role will require troubleshooting of infrastructure and application issues, as well as staying updated on the latest DevOps practices and AWS services.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. AWS Infrastructure Management:
    • Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and cost-effective AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation.
    • Ensure consistency and reliability across production, staging, and development environments.
  1. CI/CD Pipeline Development:
    • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy to automate application deployments and infrastructure updates.
    • Streamline the deployment process to ensure fast, efficient, and error-free releases.
  1. AWS Environment Management:
    • Manage AWS environments, ensuring optimal performance, security, and cost-efficiency.
    • Regularly monitor resource usage and make recommendations to optimize infrastructure costs.
  1. Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution:
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues.
    • Implement resolutions to root causes, ensuring issues are addressed promptly and effectively.
  1. Continuous Improvement & Best Practices:
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest AWS services, DevOps trends, and best practices.
    • Continually evaluate and improve our cloud infrastructure, deployment processes, and security practices.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, preferably in cloud-based environments.
  • AWS Expertise: Strong experience with AWS infrastructure, including services like EC2, S3, VPC, Lambda, and RDS.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Extensive experience with AWS CloudFormation for infrastructure provisioning and management.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Proven experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy.
  • Automation: Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) to automate tasks and deployments.
  • Troubleshooting: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Monitoring & Logging: Experience with monitoring and logging tools like CloudWatch, ElasticSearch, Prometheus, or similar.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with development and operations teams.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Certifications: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or other relevant AWS certifications.
  • Containerization: Experience with Docker, ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes.
  • Security Best Practices: Familiarity with AWS security best practices, such as IAM roles, VPC security, and compliance standards.
