Spectrum IT's South Coast client are actively seeking to recruit a Contract DevOps Engineer with extensive site reliability experience and background in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments. Due to company growth and expansion, our client have increased needs in this area and therefore would like to add a contractors to the team for an initial 3 months contract. This will be a fully remote working role and has been deemed Outside IR35.As the DevOps Engineer, you will play a crucial role in streamlining the software delivery pipelines, enhancing the reliability, performance and scalability of the systems, and driving continuous improvement across the entire software development lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and QA teams, to optimise the development processes and ensure seamless delivery of high-quality software during our clients busy period.You will also work on the analysis, deployment, and maintenance of various systems for corporate and production usage, working with the Head of DevOps, Head of IT and Development team to streamline the full development lifecycle.Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure as Code concepts and tools (using YAML, JSON, Terraform, Ansible)
  • Devise the best solutions (new and existing) following best practices
  • Maintain and optimise microservices already running on Kubernetes in GCP
  • Maintain the current cloud infrastructure
  • System performance and reliability monitoring and maintenance to ensure uptime, security and integrity of implemented systems
  • Work effectively in an Agile team

Skills/Experience

  • Proven experience as a Contract DevOps Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer in a GCP environment
  • Extensive knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) products, services, and methodology
  • A strong knowledge of Kubernetes cluster, building containers, deploying via CI/CD pipelines using Helm
  • Strong knowledge of Nginx, PHP, MySQL
  • Knowledge of NoSQL solutions, RabbitMQ, SOLR, Couchbase
  • Ability to work with, devise, and implement CI/CD pipelines and practices.
  • A solid understanding of networking concepts, technologies, and protocols (TCP/IP, IPSec, HTTPS, DNS)
  • Information Security Risk assessment and analysis of Google Cloud native services and related services
  • Analysing potential attack vectors and understanding the impact of security threats on the system.
