We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Business Development Manager to drive growth and opportunity within our Civil Engineering sector. This role is key in developing client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and leading a high-performing team to secure and expand our project pipeline.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Strategy & Growth

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Business Development Plan aligned with company objectives.
  • Identify new markets, assess opportunities, and shape strategies to expand the business.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to define and refine our market positioning and competitive advantage.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, project managers, consultants, and supply chain partners.
  • Actively engage with stakeholders to gather market intelligence and insights.
  • Influence key decision-makers to improve our success rate in securing projects.

Opportunity & Tender Management

  • Proactively identify tender opportunities that align with business goals.
  • Lead prequalification efforts, ensuring a strategic approach to bid submissions and contract negotiations.
  • Support bid teams by providing market intelligence and technical insights.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Mentor and develop Business Development Co-ordinators.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Work closely with project and contracts managers to align business development efforts with operational capabilities.

Performance & Market Analysis

  • Monitor and report on key business development KPIs (e.g., tender success rate, client engagement, revenue growth).
  • Conduct market research to stay ahead of industry trends and competitor activity.
  • Ensure the effective use of marketing materials to promote the company's expertise and capabilities.
What We're Looking For:

Experience:

  • Proven background in business development within the Civil Engineering sector.
  • Experience working with bid teams, contract negotiations, and client engagement.
  • Understanding of technical engineering and contracting practices.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong strategic and critical thinking abilities.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders and position the company competitively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of social media tools for business promotion.

Qualifications:

  • Civil Engineering Degree / HNC/ONC qualification or equivalent.
  • Chartered status (ICE, CIOB, CIHT, APM) preferred but not essential.
  • MBA or advanced business qualification is a plus.

Additional Requirements:

Full, valid driver's license (travel may be required).
