We require a Commercial Manager to cover an existing workload within Metropolitan Police, based in Empress State Building (Hybrid working – 3 days per week from January).

This is an interim position for an initial 6 months with the potential to be extended, dependent on workload.

Job Purpose:

  • Support the Commercial Lead in managing commercial requirements.
  • Handle procurement projects and provide commercial advice.
  • Engage with senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Assist in delivering high-profile projects and managing contracts.
  • The Counter Terrorism Policing HQ (CTPHQ) Commercial team supports the whole commercial lifecycle, procuring everything from ammunition and complex IT solutions to operational technology and professional services.

Skills and experience needed to be successful in this role:

  • Background in procurement and contract management.
  • Experience with professional services, particularly consultancy and interim agreements.
  • Knowledge of public contract regulations (DSPCR 2011, PCR 2015, and upcoming Procurement Act).
  • Ability to manage both pre-contract and post-contract activities.
  • Ability to conduct face-to-face meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent understanding of sourcing and procurement methodologies, ideally within a regulated or Public Sector environment.
  • Ability to lead negotiations with 3rd parties and successfully employ appropriate negotiating techniques based on category sourcing strategy.
  • Experience working and effectively influencing stakeholders, projecting personal impact and credibility at all levels of the organisation and the external market, demonstrating an ability to influence, persuade and effectively communicate.
  • A proven track record and detailed understanding of contract law and contract management processes. Proficient in the composition and interpretation of complex agreements/contracts.
