A great opportunity has arisen within a big-hitting global legal firm who are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic and creative Communications Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the firm’s external communications strategy.
The firm’s highly regarded business development, marketing and communications team is integral to the setting and achievement of the firm’s business objectives, which includes supporting partners and associates in their pursuit of becoming clients’ trusted advisers, building and maintaining long-lasting, deep institutional client relationships, winning new clients, increasing the visibility of the firm globally and positioning the firm as the thought leader and most advanced law firm among the global elite. The function works as one team across the globe with very close collaboration between the central groups, such as communications and events, and the professionals working in local offices, practice groups, sectors and clients. Reporting to the Global External Communications Lead, this role will be instrumental in enhancing the firm’s U.K and global presence and reputation through strategic media relations, impactful communications campaigns and the meticulous management of the firm’s brand image. You will be accountable for directly supporting the partners and practices within the firm’s preeminent Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure practice in the U.K. and will also be responsible for developing the U.K. Regional Managing Partner’s visibility through proactive external communications efforts. The Communications Manager will be responsible for advancing the firm’s strategic goals by ensuring a cohesive and impactful external communications strategy and will be instrumental in positioning the firm as a leader in the legal field, enhancing its reputation, and driving positive media coverage and public perception. By effectively managing external communications, you will support the firm’s business growth, strengthen its competitive positioning and reinforce its commitment to excellence and thought leadership in the global legal market. You will collaborate with practice area leaders and other senior stakeholders across the business development, marketing and communications function to align external communications efforts with the firm’s strategic priorities. Maintaining and enhancing the firm’s brand image across all external platforms, you will lead and oversee external communications campaigns from conception through execution and evaluation, developing and tracking metrics to assess the effectiveness of external communications initiatives. The successful applicant will also be expected cultivate and manage relationships with key U.K. media contacts and influencers, developing media outreach strategies that enhance the firm’s visibility, and will craft high-quality press releases, media statements, website postings and other external communication materials, driving tactical news, thought leadership and market commentary opportunities for the firm’s market-leading spokespeople.
With a keen eye for detail and a strategic mindset, the ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in external communications and a strong background in media relations and public relations gained within professional services, preferably in a legal or similarly complex sector, to include demonstrable success in developing and executing strategic communication plans that drive business objectives and enhance organisational reputation. An exceptional communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills and proven ability to craft compelling content and manage high-stakes media interactions, the Communications Manager will be comfortable working in fast-paced, demanding teams and in using their own initiative while being flexible, pragmatic and adaptable. Familiarity with the legal industry and understanding of its unique communication challenges and opportunities will also be essential and proficiency in media measurement and reporting tools will be highly advantageous.
