Interim Head of Campaigns

A leading national charity is seeking an experienced Interim Head of Campaigns to drive forward key policy and advocacy initiatives. This role is critical in ensuring the effective delivery of multiple high-profile campaigns, engaging key stakeholders and managing a focused team to achieve strategic objectives.

Role Overview

This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role, where you will be responsible for overseeing several major campaigns related to public policy, social justice, and advocacy. You will lead a team of campaign managers, ensuring that projects remain on track, engagement and recruitment targets are met, and stakeholders are effectively influenced. The role will require excellent project management skills, the ability to motivate a team, and strong political awareness to navigate the policy landscape.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate multiple policy-led advocacy campaigns ensuring alignment with the organisation's strategic goals.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to a team of campaign managers, keeping them focused on objectives and deadlines.
  • Oversee the management of stakeholder engagement, working with policymakers, external organisations, and partners to drive meaningful change.
  • Monitor and ensure that engagement and recruitment targets are met within campaign strategies.
  • Utilise project management tools such as Asana to ensure seamless coordination across teams.
  • Oversee the evaluation and impact assessment of campaigns, using data-driven insights to refine strategies.
  • Play a key role in planning and delivering a major flagship event in July, ensuring it aligns with campaign objectives.
  • Work closely with communications and press teams to ensure effective external messaging and public engagement.
Candidate Profile

To be successful in this role, you will need to be an experienced campaigns leader with a strong understanding of policy, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement within a fast-paced environment.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Strong political judgement and the ability to navigate complex policy landscapes.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience, with the ability to keep a focused team on track.
  • Background in advocacy, public policy, social justice, or membership-based organisations.
  • Ability to drive campaigns from planning through to execution, meeting engagement and recruitment targets.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience using tools like Asana.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, working with policymakers, funders, and external partners.
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Experience in communications, press or public affairs.
  • Previous experience working on non for profit or social mobility campaigns.
