Temp Community Fundraising Assistant

The Community Fundraising Assistant supports individuals and organisations raising funds for the charity, ensuring the safe processing and acknowledgement of donations and the administrative processing tasks related to community and corporate fundraising, ensuring supporters have the best possible experience. They also provide stewardship and support to companies carrying out employee fundraising in the workplace.

The ideal Candidate will have had previous NGO or charity experience ideally within a similar position and have an interest in charity with strong administrative and communication skills.

What would you be doing?
The Community Fundraising Assistant supports the Community and Corporate Engagement team, acting as the first point of contact for fundraising enquiries from individuals and companies raising funds for the charity. This includes challenge events, community groups, schools, universities, online streamers, and more. They also support individuals donating or raising funds for in memory or in celebration of a loved one and are often the first point of contact within the team for these tribute supporters. 

In addition:

  • Provide excellent supporter care to individuals, organisations and companies raising funds.
  • Provide support for individuals making a donation or raising funds for in memory or in celebration.
  • Ensure the safe processing of donations from community, tribute and corporate supporters.
  • Prepare fundraising reports and complete financial reconciliation for third-party platforms.
  • Manage the processing of matched giving donations.
  • Manage the administrative processing involved in Payroll Giving.
  • Write bespoke communications for those who have raised funds under sensitive circumstances or for specific countries.
  • Represent the charity at major donor events and community fundraising events (sometimes outside of working hours).
  • Work as a full member of the Fundraising team, handling telephone calls from supporters (such as enquiries, processing card donations, change of address, amendments to regular donations etc) and assist with fundraising projects as and when required.
  • Any other duties deemed reasonable as part of your role.

About You
You will need a strong interest in fundraising, be organised, with excellent attention to detail and demonstrate a proven ability to work well under pressure and with others.

Also:

  • Excellent and engaging written communication skills and ability to adapt style to suit a wide range of supporters.
  • Confident interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including the ability to empathetically communicate with recently bereaved individuals wishing to donate or raise funds.
  • Accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills with experience of managing multiple tasks and prioritising effectively.
  • Experience of working in an office environment, maintaining effective administrative systems and procedures.
  • A high level of analytical and written skills.
  • Computer savvy.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, additional languages advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally including field projects
